From: WXPN
Length: 00:05:00

When Steve Forbert began making records in the late 1970's he was dubbed "the new Dylan". No doubt, critics and audiences responded to his intelligent lyrics and guitar-based folk-rock. Forbert had a taste of commercial success with his radio-friendly song "Romeo's Tune". But for most of his career, Forbert has been under the radar, churning out albums and touring. Piece Description

Steve Forbert was born in Meridian, Mississippi.  He migrated north, to New York City when he was 21 and became a fixture on the Greenwich Village folk club circuit.  His early releases "Alive on Arrival" and "Jackrabbit Slim" were lauded by critics.  The latter album garnered commercial success on the strength of the single "Romeo's Tune".  That song remains Forbert's calling card.  But he has a large body of work to his credit.  And if you go to a Forbert concert, you'll likely hear his fans singing along with him.  He's just released "The Place and the Time"
