Wonderful what Winter does in capturing the tragedy of a life that could have been so different as witnessed by the parallel-but-not course of the narrator's life. Really good!
It's great to hear how much an author can convey and a listener can feel in 3 short minutes. The brief moments of music added to the tension and overall appeal as well.
The great authors say if the story moved you, moved you at all in either a positive or negative way – then the author did their job.
I found the story disturbingly graphic and yes, I was moved.

Insightful
Tommy's story rings true....all the stories of the kids we once knew and how radically their lives changed.

Best stuff ever on public radio!
I think that our friends have already covered it here, but this is great audio. Finally a reason to listen to public radio! Great job, Amy!

Outstanding!
This is an absolute jewel, vidid and evocative. It's amazing how clearly the characters are drawn in so few well-chosen words.

Wonderful!
These would make a fantastic addition to NPR. Three minute shots of creative emotion, so good for the soul.

Great Storytelling
I like the line, "There's no background check for amunition." It's a great metaphor for the author's sense of helplessness.

Astounding
Simply not possible to do more with a three minute story than Kelly Ruth Winter did with "Tommy." Brava!
