I love the way this piece shows both the placid surface of the day, and the dangerous currents that flow beneath it. I was left wanting to know much, much more!
Wow! Carrier takes on the wide-world of dysfunction, hints at its disruptive power, and wraps it all in an idyllic cloak of innocence fringed with danger. This one left a knot in the gut. I hope he turns it into a novel!

The best stuff on public radio!
I think that our friends have already covered it here, but this is great audio. Finally a reason to listen to public radio! Great job, Amy!

exceptional
The economy, the images, the teasing . . . this is what makes great fiction.

Poignant
This is a preface for a longer piece, but it stands alone as a description of all that happens at a family outing.

Stunning
Scott Carrier does an astonishing job of encapsulating the universe that exists in one specific moment in time and space. Excellent work!
