Piece Description
In the first part of this program, it's BB King, Live at the BBC. A new album featuring the king of the Blues in three different concerts in the UK over a 20-year period along with a couple of studio cuts helps remind us -- not that we need reminding -- why BB King is the king of the Blues. We'll also hear him as a duet partner of the late and great Koko Taylor, and we have the original version of one of songs he is most famous for. Also in this show, blues of a different sort, from singer, songwriter, and guitarist Rokia Traore of Mali, whose music is Malian but draws on many sources outside her homeland -- also Kamal Musallam guitarist from Kuwait, and new music from Chicago jazz flute player and band leader Nicole Mitchell.
promos included: For This Show: promo-bbking. For the next program: promo-otis-taylor
