A year ago last Christmas, my parents told my sister and me that we would be going to Disneyland for winter vacation. My sister and I were, naturally, overjoyed with this idea. Liz, my sister, thought it would be fun. She's big into fun. For example, at age four she rode every ride at Disneyworld. By age eight she was traveling to the far reaches of north, east, west, and south Washington for soccer tournaments. By ten she had made a habit of jumping off cliffs. Sometimes into water, sometimes not so much. Disneyland would be, for her, a quaint little adrenaline rush, nothing momentous, but fun nonetheless. I viewed it as an opportunity to connect more with my somewhat estranged father. He had moved down to Phoenix Arizona two years before when his small business went south. The details involve embezzlement, bible study networking, and an unfortunately timed economic downturn...
