Piece Description

On this show We'll hear songs from Pat Thomas from his album "His Father's Son." Pat Thomas truly evokes the memory of his late father, James "Son" Thomas, a bluesman and folk artist from Leland MS who achieved worldwide acclaim for his work. Pat Thomas carries on the family traditions, both in blues music and art. We'll hear him talk about his art, or perhaps more about some of the uses of the materials used for his art, from the film "M For Mississippi: A Roadtrip Through The Birthplace Of The Blues." The film won the Blues Music Award this year for blues DVD-of-the-year. We'll also hear from the father, James "Son" Thomas.

Also in this hour, recent jazz interpretations of songs from the world of rock and R&B, from albums by Carl Allen and Rodney Whitaker, Papa John DeFrancesco, and Barbara Dennerlein. And we have an old favorite from the patron saint of this program (his initials are JC and he played tenor and soprano sax).

promos included: promo-pat-thomas.mp2 for this show. promo-muddywaters.mp2 for the next show.
