Meet Kathie McClure. She's an attorney, mother of two, and the founder of health reform group Vote Healthcare. She's also the Purple Bus Lady and this spring she's touring the country in support of affordable health care. Read the full description.

Low_res_campaign_2008-_0029_small Kathie McClure is on a mission and she’s carrying it out in style.   Two years ago, Kathie founded  VoteHealthcare.org, to encourage thousands of people upset with our health care system to become politically active.  Since this April, she’s been  traveling across the country doing just that  in a remodeled purple schoolbus. On each stop, Kathie  collects the stories of these Americans and meets with organizations fighting to change the system.  We met up with Kathie at the start of her spring tour in New Orleans.

You’re listening to a special from the Affiliated Media Foundation Movement. This week we take a look at a woman on a personal mission to help change our health care system. I’m Julia Botero.

A bright purple bus is parked on the shoulder of a downtown street in New Orleans. It’s pretty hard to miss. Sketches of yellow smiley faces are painted all over, from its wheels to its roof and white letters on the sides read Vote Healthcare.com. This is Kathie McClure’s Purple Bus. She’s on the second stop of her trip across the country to 17 states in the next 3 months. When she gets to each of these places, she’ll attends press events, speak at town hall meetings, and join in rallies for universal health care. Kathie is an attorney and lives with her husband in Atlanta.
