Piece Description

Part of the legacy of bluegrass and country music is it's grassroots
connections. You know, frontier farmers, after a day of field work, playing a few
tunes on the violin before bed time. Or, the family gathered together to sing
hymn tunes. Saying or implying that just’ folks play the music makes it seem more accessible. That is why bluegrass and country music artists stress grassroots connections. But the music actually advances in the hands of people who perform full time.

OUTRO:

after the UA, you might play bluegrass songs relating to sociable settings for bluegrass. On the Reno Bros CD Acoustic Celebration, there's a great one called Saturday's Jam. I'd also recomment Jim and Jesse's Pickin' and a-Grinnin, Reno and Smiley's Sawin' on the Strings and Y'all come from Bill Monroe.
