Malaria Vaccine Launch

Malaria has been around for thousands of years. Alexander the Great is said to have died from it. Egyptian mummies have shown signs of it. We know that both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln suffered from it. So, with all the technology at our disposal – why haven’t we been able to stop the disease once and for all – like we did here in the US? There are lots of reasons: lack of money, lack of will, lack of infrastructure. But there is hope and it comes in the form of a vaccine. Researchers have been looking for a malaria vaccine for 70 years. Now the RTS,S vaccine has shown promise in early testing. And the final phase of the trial is about to begin across Africa.
