B-Side Radio: Neighbors

Series: B-Side: Cure for the Weekend Blues
From: B-Side Radio
Length: 00:53:59

B-Side's Tamara Keith moves into a new house and introduces us to some unconventional neighborhoods. Also, what happens when a fence falls down, or there never was one. Read the full description.

Neighbors_1_small "Biosphere" Rene Gutel:
The Biospherians only had seven neighbors for TWO years! And before going in, the members of the group had done all these "team-building" exercises to ensure they'd get along during the duration. But once they were inside, the stress of the project got to them. Food was scarce and tensions were sharp, and they splintered into two factions. Rene Gutel interviewed two of the Biospherians to find out what life was like.

"Pitcairn Island" Cyrus Farivar:
The people who live on rocky Pitcairn Island know everything about each other, in some cases too much.  A professor thousands of miles away in California is their closest neighbor.

"Mother as Neighbor" Sarah Baughn:
We spend some time with Sarah Baughn and her husband and boys and mother...who lives right next door.  Sarah's mom lives within hollering distance, and has been known to break in to do Sarah's laundry.

"The Truck Farm" Eve Abrams:
Eve Abrams introduces us to her neighborhood within a neighborhood.  It's in New Orleans.  It's called The Truck Farm and fences don't divide the houses.

"The Fence" Tamara Keith:
We hear about a pair of neighbors, their fence, and what happened when it fell down.  It isn't what you'd expect

"Siler Place" Elizabeth Chur:
An incredible story from Elizabeth Chur about childhood innocence and  inseparable next door neighbors presented in the form of a children's book.
