CLIP TRANSCRIPT
"I remember when I was eight years old my parents took me to listen to the finals of Tchaikovsky competition and I have heard this concerto played ten times in three days, and maybe some of those times were not very good performances, so intentionally or unintentionally I don't know, I stayed away from that piece until I discovered the greatness of Tchaikovsky.  And I thought, oh my God, this is the greatest Russian composer.  I've got to play it."

SUGGESTED HOST OUTRO
Pianist Yefim Bronfman performed the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 for the first time nearly twenty-five years after he made his international debut.  He recorded the concerto just a few years ago (2007).  We'll hear that collaboration with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mariss Jansons.
