This is true to life reporting on the Villisca Axe Murders and the story told by it's 'Guardian', thanks. My wife grew up on the main central street you described driving down, 4th Avenue, a few houses from the cemetery. We went back when our kids were in high school, and sat through the very detailed slide show 'tour' given by Darwin Linn in the downtown old store, frozen in time, almost an embalmed parlor of the past. Kudos to Michael Paul Mason for condensing it into this fine true murder mystery story!
Leave it to Mason to locate the obscure and then indulge himself fully, and us along for the ride. He tells it as creepy as it wants to be and no more, leaving us much to fathom. Michael's taste in such matters is spot-on. Makes you wonder how such a place could stand in relative obscurity. Let's hope it stays that way.
Interesting story along the lines of a History Channel piece but without the hype. Mike's narration flows well as he brings us along a dark path in Iowa history. Mike on edge is a bit amusing as well!

Essence of an embalmed murder mystery
