Marijuana in America: The $230+ Billion Economy; George Obama; Michael Phelps and Kellogg's
Series: Active Voice Radio
From: Chris Goldstein
Length: 00:29:33
FROM INTRO SCRIPT:
" I have covered marijuana law reform intensively for eight years. For three years I hosted and produced daily podcasts for NORML in Washington DC interviewing hundreds of guests for that program including many Congressman, state elected officials and law enforcement. Also included were interviews with dozens of medical marijuana patients and providers in the states that have legal medical cannabis programs as well as authors, journalists and activists addressing the broader topic of Prohibition. This has granted me the privilege of a unique look at this issue in America and compelled me to discuss my experiences and opinions with a frankness that you, the audience, deserve."
This week Active Voice Radio presents three of Chris Goldstein's stand-alone audio essays on topics that have been prominent in mainstream news:
The American Marijuana Market - looks at the size and scope of the underground marijuana economy
The Racial Bias of Marijuana Prohibition - explores the topic of racism and prohibition though the arrest of George Obama, the President's Kenyan half-brother.
Thank You and Goodbye Kellogg's - looks at the Michael Phelps photo and subsequent boycott of Kellogg's products by the cannabis community.
All 3 essays are available as stand-alone pieces here on PRX.
Also included is a short portion of an interview Chris conducted with former Judge William Murphy Jr. of Baltimore who speaks about the racial bias of drug prohibition enforcement.
