Fellner is a labor activist who traveled to South American farms and worked as barista to uncover a mix-bag of discoveries about this successful American company. Interwoven into the book are a history of American coffee drinking trends as well as realistic accounts of the political struggles involving coffee from Guatemala to Ethiopia.
Kim also interviewed Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz in her through study of the topic.
Chris is a coffee lover who ultimately asks Fellner, "Can progressives feel good about drinking a cup of Starbucks?"
