Fundraising Voices - Leonard Nimoy (Contribute and Prosper)
From: Listener Directed Productions, Inc.
Length: 00:00:36
You may know Leonard Nimoy for his work as a Film, Radio and Television Host, as well as an actor. But you might best remember him as the television character with unusual ears and a knack for two distinctive hand gestures - one that encouraged a long and prosperous life, and the other that rendered another life form unconscious. When it comes to Public Radio fundraising, he prefers the first of those gestures.
If you're looking for music to play before or after this spot, almost anything goes. If you want to play the Outer Space element, there’s anything from “The Planets” by Holst to music from the Star Trek TV programs and movies. (http://www.startreksoundtracks.com/soundtracks.html). See listings for composer Alexander Courage at arkivmusic.com. The Star Trek movie and soundtrack came out in May 2009.

"Hello, I'm Leonard Nimoy. Perhaps you remember me for my role on the original "Mission Impossible." Or, maybe you know my work on another television program where I was known to use two distinctive hand gestures - one that encouraged a long and prosperous life, and the other rendered another life form unconscious. Naturally I prefer the first of those gestures. You can make a similar life affirming gesture by supporting the programming you enjoy on your Public Radio station. Please call or go online now, and hopefully we'll all live long and prosper. Thank you."

Famous Listeners
Nimoy has a good voice, a recognizable name and is a good tie-in to getting out the fundraising/support word. I wish my station played stuff like this ... might cut down the length of the fundraising a bit. People like famous pitchmen.
