Newsletterlogo_small Art of the Song is a one-hour public radio program with music and interviews that explores inspiration and creativity through songwriting and other art forms. The show aims to delve into why songwriters and artists create, how they become inspired, and how the listener can tap into these creative sources.

The show has tuned in deeply with Grammy-nominated songwriters and performers like Richard Thompson, Kathy Mattea, and Bruce Cockburn.  But the show is not just for songwriters and musicians, as it tries to explore universal truths common to all creative expression.

Art of the Song also features two short segments that treat different aspects of the creative process. The Song Analyst looks into the detailed workings of music theory and songwriting craft. Berklee College of Music is the sponsor of this segment and it is hosted by Michael Shorr. The Creativity Corner is an intimate personal essay that draws from the experiences of poets, artists, actors and people with "day jobs" working on their novels. The program is rounded out with whole songs performed by the special guest and makes for an entertaining, educationally fun hour.
