Carols for a Cure: A mix of music for the holidays from the casts of Broadway musicals
Give your listeners a Christmas gift that doesn't fit in any box or musical niche. Carols for a Cure is an eclectic mix of classical choral, novelty songs, alternative rock, and world music, created and performed by singers in New York's biggest shows. The 60/40 music/talk ratio features an interview between Janean Jorgensen, host of KPBX's Broadway Matinee and Linn Pinto, an actress who 10 years ago began recording Christmas songs with the casts of Broadway shows and sold the CDs to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Music includes Bernadette Peters with White Christmas, Antonio Banderas with Los Peces en el Rio, choral performances of Good King Wenceslas, Holly and the Ivy, and O Tannenbaum, and a new Christmas song written by Elton John for the cast of his new Broadway show Billy Elliott. We make many references to the CD set available at BroadwayCares.org and what BC/EFA does. Great for a holiday weekend airing around Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Schickele Mix,
