Tradional Family Fun @ ChristmasIt isn't difficult to picture the cast of The Colonial Radio Theatre Company standing onstage in Christmas sweaters and neck scarves with stage snow falling all around them when you listen to the opening number, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," sung by Jerry Robbins and his "radio kids," Rob Cattell, Connor Doherty and Ricky MacDonald. JT Turner and Diane Capen round out the cast of this sweet homage to those classical Christmas television and radio programs of old, calling to mind Bing Crosby's and Andy Williams' annual shows. With a little classical Victoriana a few traditional religious carols, some familiar secular holiday songs, a charming shepherds' Nativity pagent, a story or two, some friendly banter, the Colonial Radio players present a warm and nostalgic little bit of traditional Christmas. All of the lovely orchestration and rich sound effects help to take us away to a simpler time, even for just a little while. |
