Piece Description

In the 1990's Ralph Covert formed the Chicago based band, The Bad Examples. The indie pop group built a strong local following. But after Covert had a daughter he began to write children's music and volunteered to conduct classes for the preschool set. One of the parents happened to run a record label. The two collaborated and created the first "Ralph's World" album. Today Covert is considered a superstar within the thriving world of children's music. (While CD sales are falling among most genres, children's albums are moving at a healthy clip). Covert talks about the pleasures of making music for children. He says its essential to write songs that parents will enjoy too.
