Music can really paint a picture. One of the best examples is Vivaldi's set of four Violin Concertos known as the "Four Seasons." Joshua Bell recently recorded the concertos and says Vivaldi gave the violin an incredible platform to convey the essence of each season.
CLIP TRANSCRIPT
"He has moments where he describes the bugs, you know, in summer, or the... a dog barking, you know, in the spring and you have to take it as far as you feel is tasteful. You don't necessarily want to actually hear a dog barking, (laugh) you know, in the piece. But I find the piece very visceral, and there're moments where you really do kind of have to get your hands dirty a bit and maybe not play too pretty and refined."
SUGGESTED HOST OUTRO Joshua Bell plays on both sides of the moderation fence in the Four Seasons by Vivaldi. In this recording of the (complete or single concerto), he's along-side the English Chamber Orchestra.
