On this program, we feature a new live album from Mavis Staples. "Live: Hope At the Hideout" features a raw and compelling hometown performance by Staples with a three-piece band & a few backup singers, including Yvonne Staples, Mavis's sister, recorded last June at a small Chicago club. We also have new blues from Cedric Burnside, a grandson of the late, great R. L. Burnside, who teams up w/ Lightnin' Malcolm as "2 Man Wrecking Crew." We have bass-led jazz old and new: a classic from bassist Charles Mingus and new sounds from bassist Avashai Cohen - and Arden of Eden - that's Arden, not Garden. It's the latest from singer and songwriter Mary Arden Collins.
