Piece Description
Every day at our school, children play on the Mitchell playground. But none of them know who Mr. Mitchell is or why the playground is named after him. The third graders of Third Grade Audio decided to find out. North Shore Names profiles alumni and former teachers and staff of our school and the campus places, school events or recognitions named in their honor or in their memory. During the project, third graders interviewed sixteen people: alumni from 1938 to 1983 and teachers, administrators and staff who used to work at our school, just north of Chicago. You can listen to two full audio documentaries and one of our favorite stories excerpted from a third here on prx. We also created slideshows for two of the audio docs and another short slideshow for an excerpt from another audio doc. To see the slideshows and to hear the other three audio documentaries we made, you can do so here: http://nsnames.edublogs.org/
