(LEAD-IN) ? Most polls today show the economy, gas prices and the war in Iraq are the top issues on voters minds this election year. But there are concerted efforts throughout the country to steer voters? attention to other issues like gay marriage, illegal immigration and abortion. Political experts call them wedge issues and they?ve been part of American election campaigns for a long time. But some experts are now questioning how much of an impact they?ll really have this year. From Kansas Public Radio, Peter Hancock has this report.
