ArtMusic Coffeehouse, March 10th, 2004.
A two-hour Interview/Live Performance musical program with multi-talented singer/guitarist Bradley N. Litwin.
Bradley N. Litwin is an exceptional singer and guitarist whose aim is the broadcast and preservation of the extraordinary invention, passion and humor that is embodied in early vintage, Roots Blues and Jazz. Although this music is some of the most infectious, it is seldom encountered in the mass media. For Litwin, helping thread that rich heritage back into the fabric of mainstream consciousness is a labor of love. That mission grows timely as its originators and contemporary practitioners dwindle in number.
Taking on the rompin' stompin' finger-style guitar of Blind Blake, Robert Johnson and Mance Lipscomb, the smooth singing of the Mills Brothers and Nat King Cole, and the exhilaration of Bessie Smith, Litwin emerges with a sound all his own, and one that music lovers have been waiting a long time to hear. Treating roots music like an old friend, who just stopped by after decades past, he carries on with a front porch conversation, as though it were never interrupted.
