Piece Description

In 1995 Joan Osborne, a New York City based singer and songwriter, shot to international stardom when she released the album "Relish" and it's top-charting hit "One of Us". Osborne's life hasn't been as public lately but she's certainly been as busy. She has continued to record albums exploring different genres including soul and country. She also appeared in the 2002 documentary "Standing in the Shadows of Motown". Joan's new album--Little Wild One--was inspired by her affection for New York City. She felt a renewed love for her adopted hometown after the tragedies of 9/11. In this segment of "A Musician's Life" Joan reflects on coming to New York for the first time, her passion for singing and her highs and lows as an artist.
