Piece Description
"Golden Days and Friendly Faces" takes an in-depth look at the musical life in a unique place - Lake Michigan's Beaver Island. "Golden Days" was created by Andy Robins (an award-winning producer of natural-sound pieces) and Cara Lieurance (producer and dedicated Celtic musician). Over the past two years, they delved into archival sources around the state of Michigan, discovering the voices and performances that define the island's history and traveled to the island, forming relationships with the living musicians who currently hold the reins of the tradition. Hosted by Lorraine Caron, "Golden Days" is an engaging portrait of a community many know about but may never have the opportunity to visit. This production also speaks to issues that resonate with public radio audiences including; immigration, the transfer of culture, and the role of youth in community. Newscast friendly with :30 promo.
