Host is Martha Burk, with guests Eleanor Smeal, President of the Feminist Majority, and Ann E.W. Stone, Chairman and founder of Republicans for Choice. Topics include the gender gap, why and how women see issues differently than men, the party platforms, and how the election outcome will affect women beyond 2008.
Bios:
Martha Burk is Money Editor for Ms. Magazine, and former Chair of the National Council of Women?s Organizations in Washington, D.C. She is a syndicated columnist, and blogger for the Huffington Post. Dr. Burk serves an advisor to candidates on women?s issues, and she appears regularly on national television and radio.
Recognized throughout the nation as a women?s rights leader, Eleanor Smeal appears frequently on television and radio, testifies before Congress on a wide variety of women?s issues, and speaks to diverse audiences nationwide. For over three decades, she has played a leading role in both national and state campaigns to win women?s rights legislation and in a number of landmark state and federal court cases. One of the architects of the modern drive for women?s equality, Smeal is known as a political analyst, strategist, and grassroots organizer.
Ann E.W. Stone founded Republicans for Choice in 1990, and she was chosen as one of 75 Women Who Changed Politics in America by C&E Magazine. Stone speaks professionally in the United States and overseas on politics, and co hosts a public affairs TV show in Alexandria Virginia. She has testified many times before the Republican National Platform Committee on women's issues.
