From the Seattle Weekly, this is Day Job.
Dayjob is a look at how musicians pay the rent.
WOLBERG: I'm Colin Wolberg. I play in a band called Siberian, and also J. Tillman. I work in Ballard at a construction company. We fabricate and install accoustical panels, soundproofing, things like that.
Colin works at Snap-Tex in ballard. He saws up little pieces of plastic track and big slabs of foam insulation, and assembles them into a frame. Then he stretches, staples, and glues fabric over the top to make acoustic panels. Colin builds rooms for clubs and private homes that are totally quiet.
WOLBERG: Music is just one of those things that's going constantly through your head. There's nothing you can do about it anyway. Practicing in your head, and just going over things in your head is actually just as beneficial as physically doing it.
