Description:

What happens when you turn your own legal training and profession inwardly? You get a lawyer, who's self examined life mirror many Baby Boomer's doubts about religious influences and choices they've made as a parent.

This series investigates the group of people who are inspired by the musical genre of jazz, known here, as "jazzers". We are curious about what they believe, what drives them forward each day through personal tribulations, why jazz inspires them and who they are. We think that their divine inspiration might come through jazz, or at least they draw some understanding from the musical genre which lends itself and speaks to overcoming.

In this interview, jazzer Brennan Newsom courageously speaks openly of his worries, doubts and fears as a parent of adult children, who may (or may not) have lead his children down the "wrong path". He subscribes to "The Examined Life" as prescribed by the midieval scholar Erasmus.

Host Sr. Barbara Turning, R.N. reflects to the guest, a few philosophers notions on spirituality versus secularity, as guest, Brennan Newsom, ESQ. reveals his personal struggle with the results of parenting, now that his children are adults. Ends with a Rilke quote, which suggests we embrace questions which remain, as the mystery for which, if there were an answer, we may not be able to live in.
