INTRO
Coffee used to be the drink of choice if you wanted a hot drink to wake you up. It never used to matter where the coffee came from or how it was even roasted. As long as it was hot and there was enough cream and sugar to go around, everyone was happy and everyone was awake.
RICHARD
I?m Richard Simons, I work in computer systems and I roast coffee at home.
DANIEL
Richard began roasting seven years ago. He was surfing the net one night and came across specialty coffee sites. Once a week he pulls out he coffee roaster, measures out about two hundred and thirty grams of green coffee beans, flips a switch and starts roasting.
RICHARD
When the internal temperature of the bean gets to be around 400, 450 degrees there is a sort of grassy smell that comes out in this part of the roast. They are turning a deeper yellow and some of them are just starting to turn very light bro...
