Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Iraq Veterans
From: Donna Descoteaux
Series: Living Well Show
Length: 28:44
Are we treating our returning veterans appropriately? PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) has reached higher levels than ever before. Col. Katherine Platoni, Ph.D. is the Army Reserve Clinical Psychology Consultant to the Chief, Medical Service Corp, the lead psychologist position for the entire Army Reserve and Army National Guard and an Iraq veteran. Col Platoni tells us how our returning vets needs are NOT being met by the current system and what services are so desperately needed to help veterans return to their lives and families. With multiple deployments and the unique conditions of this war PTSD is experienced to some degree by most returnees. As Col. Platoni lets us know that no one goes to war and returns unscathed. We need to provide services that help heal the scares of war and allow our vets to resume their lives.
