Review of Boredom“Boredom” was a funny story with well-explained details, Great music and well-chosen sound effects. Callie knows how to draw the listener in with her voice. She speaks clearly and with enthusiasm. The storyline was good. Even if you were blind, you could see what was going on because there were a lot of little details. The balance between the sound effects, the music and the narrator’s voice was very good. You could always understand what she was saying. It reminded our group of what they do in the summer with friends. We could relate to the situation. |

Review of BoredomBoredom talks about an ordinary summer day gone to the dogs by a simple mistake, brought on by, you guessed it-- boredom. Callie Dean, the narrator, tells the listener her lament about her previous summer experiences. She talks about how her boredom leads to her drawing on a bus shelter with an Expo-marker and the result of being arrested by the cops. This radio piece is also a little look into police and the way they enforce the law. Callie is so funny I laughed out loud at some points while listening. It is great that she looks back on this very serious incident and makes fun of it. The listener is left with both a lesson on how to combat tediousness, and a way to correct yourself learning from Callie’s mistakes. This piece has everything, an interesting story with a real plot, great music and sound effects, a main character you really care about, and a moral. |

I like howCallie uses the different types of music and sound effects for the settings. She has a way of getting the listeners attention which I like. She has a great sense of humor it made me laugh. Even though I was just listening I could picture what was going on in my head. Clearly she has a way with words painting pictures with them. I also like how she is relating to the youth on what some kids do or think during the times of boring summers. I picture her as an out going, spunky girl! Giving good advice on not how to spend your summer.
