Review of BoredomBoredom talks about an ordinary summer day gone to the dogs by a simple mistake, brought on by, you guessed it-- boredom. Callie Dean, the narrator, tells the listener her lament about her previous summer experiences. She talks about how her boredom leads to her drawing on a bus shelter with an Expo-marker and the result of being arrested by the cops. This radio piece is also a little look into police and the way they enforce the law. Callie is so funny I laughed out loud at some points while listening. It is great that she looks back on this very serious incident and makes fun of it. The listener is left with both a lesson on how to combat tediousness, and a way to correct yourself learning from Callie’s mistakes. This piece has everything, an interesting story with a real plot, great music and sound effects, a main character you really care about, and a moral. |

Review of BoredomOh yeah, that's summer. I like this kid a lot. It was nice to hear something from the point of view of the accused, it was a great story too. The narration and the scenes worked together really well and the editing was solid. I usually get bored with things that are more than a few minutes long, boredom??, but the timing of this was perfect, I still was awake and alert at the end. Good plot, nice setup, awesome music. All around a fantastic piece. |

Review of Boredom
“Boredom” was a funny story with well-explained details, Great music and well-chosen sound effects. Callie knows how to draw the listener in with her voice. She speaks clearly and with enthusiasm. The storyline was good. Even if you were blind, you could see what was going on because there were a lot of little details. The balance between the sound effects, the music and the narrator’s voice was very good. You could always understand what she was saying. It reminded our group of what they do in the summer with friends. We could relate to the situation.
