When Ramon "Chunky" Sanchez, a Mexican-American student who attended Margaret White Elementary School in Blythe, California in the 1950s, entered the second grade, his teachers gave him and his classmates Americanized names.
He humorously recalls a fellow classmate named Facundo, the only student who never had his named changed.
