Offered in memory of the late rock-and-roll pioneer, Bo Diddley. This late career interview starts with the master humming a concerto he wrote for his first instrument, the violin. It ends with the affirmation that Bo was, and always will be, the man. M-A-N. First aired on NPR's Morning Edition, in slightly different form. Also airs as part of the new Hearing Voices special, Fans & Bands. Offered to stations at no charge at two flexible audio lengths that, including time for intro & outro, will fit segments between 5:00 and 8:00 in length. Audio times are 7:36 (5:30+2:06 music tail) and 6:24 (4:18+2:06 music tail) SUGGESTED INTRO: One of the legends of rock-and-roll died Monday, June 2, 2008. Bo Diddley. He was 79. He created a signature sound mimicked by many others -- from Buddy Holly to U2. A few months before a stroke ended his performing career in May 2007, he gave an interview for David Schulman's "Musicians in their own words" series. Even late in his career, he was full of creative ideas. Like a piece for his childhood intsrument, the violin ... IN: "I wrote a concerto ..." OUT: ends with 2:06 music tail.
