Taking the Stage to Buenos Aries.
The alarm clock rang out at 5.45 in the morning but I was already wide awake. Whirling yellow lights flickered through the front windows of the farm as the garbage truck stopped with a air hiss of brakes, to empty the gray and blue bins lining the street.
My bags were all packed and downstairs. I felt like a Chinese junk ship setting sail for the Southern Colonies. One whole case was filled with requests for bottles of this herbal remedy, boxes of that brand of tea and the mail that was waiting for the next stage of it?s journey to Buenos Aries.
It took three trips to get all the bags, including an old set of Granny?s golf clubs, out onto the roadside. Friends going to town for morning coffee or their newspapers waved goodbye and called out. ?Have a great trip.? For the first time in a long while I felt the excitement of leaving, of an...
