Summary:

Tibetan monks and expatriated Chinese in the Baltimore area, on the March '08 riots in Tibet

Description:

For Chinese and Tibetan expatriates living in the Baltimore area, the military crackdowns on ethnic Tibetans in recent weeks have revived concerns about China's sovereignty over its other territories, such as Taiwan. The Chinese government's use of force in Tibet became an issue in the Taiwanese elections last Saturday, and resonated for those Taiwanese-Americans who support an independent Taiwanese state. Maryland Morning producer Jennifer Chang reports on the local response among Tibetan Buddhist monks-in-exile, and Chinese communities living in the Baltimore region.
