Cottage Grove has a population of just over nine thousand people. Like many towns in western Oregon, timber once thrived there. The mills were cranking out boards and hills surrounding the town were thick with loggers. But times have changed. The early nineties brought endangered species protection for the spotted owl. Now the economy has shifted. Cottage Grove is a place that has reinvented itself. It?s preserved its historic identity while looking to the future. KLCC?s Rachael McDonald takes us there.
