Piece Description
The Mannish Boys are a blues revue, in the style of the old Johnny Otis Band, though their sound is more downhome. Their new album "Lowdown Feelin'" is their fourth release-- they were supposed to be a one-album project when conceived by producer Randy Chortkoff in 2004, but their unexpected success has kept them going. With a bunch of good and diverse lead singers, including Bobby Jones, Johnny Dyer, Finis Tasby, and Little Sammy Davis, and a strong core band, The Mannish Boys offer a strong and solid new blues album that includes some old, but rarely covered, blues tunes from Howlin' Wolf, Billy "The Kid" Emerson, and others.
