Encounters:Radio Experiences in the North
From: Encounters: Radio Experiences in the North
Length: 35:02
What better way to ease the evening commute than to accompany a trusted guide and national acclaimed nature writer on a bird watching trip, a whale watch or a kayak outing to see some sealions. Host Richard Nelson is adored by hunters and conservationists around the nation. His Midwestern enthusiasm and vast outdoor and cultural anthropological experience in Alaska makes this radio show a rare mix of fun and education with a literary twist that is not available anywhere else today. Encounters:Radio Experiences in the North is an unusual program about the natural world that makes people feel good about what is wild while it weaves together native knowledge and science. This weekly 29 minute show has aired in Alaska for four seasons and as a huge public radio fan club. Encounters is produced by KCAW, a station famous for turning out national radio journalists like Marika Partridge, Jeb Sharp, Lisa Nurenberger, Brian Mann, and Shawn Barlow. We will begin national distribution over content depot and make the show available to those without access to content depot beginning October 1st 2008.
