Bwheadcopysmooth_small Many common religious beliefs, such as transubstantiation, are nonetheless weird. Why do so many religions have such weird ideas? Could it be that the weird idea, once accepted, acts as a sort of fence, keeping believers in, and others out? I had a lot of weird ideas when I was a fundamentalist, and this informs my thoughts on the matter.

Weird beliefs = a filter for the un-serious

Weird beliefs = a filter for the un-serious. Interesting, I think he has a point. Perhaps God likes them, too. A test? Maybe.

At least the author has a background to cover weird beliefs -- he once had them, denounced them and moved onto a more-middlin' stance.
