Accomplished South African poet Ingrid de Kok shares her work from Seasonal Fires: New and Selected Poems, her first book to be published in the United States. She talks about growing up in South Africa under apartheid, and shares poetry that reveals the changes and challenges within her homeland. "No one among the poets of South Africa felt more acutely the heart-pain and shame of life under apartheid," says J.M. Coetzee, Nobel Prize Laureate, about the work of this internationally recognized poet.
