Default-piece-image-2 I admit I am a hopeless Olympic Games addict. I am hooked from beginning to end — I love the opening ceremonies and the parade of nations. I love the idea that small countries like Mauritius, Mauritania, and the Maldives (I’m not even sure where they are) can get a standing ovation just for showing up. I love the idea of the glory of sport as a vehicle for fellowship between nations. Ten thousand athletes, from 202 countries, marching together with pride — the global community doesn’t get too many chances to gather together in peace — it makes me feel hopeful.
