Piece Description
As he tells it, producer Stephen Grant believes that almost every Catholic schoolchild has a grim tale to tell. In this first-person essay, he recounts some of his own comical and sometimes frightening experiences as a second grader at St. Michael's Catholic School. For some strange reason, he keeps finding himself "under the ruler" in Mother Superior's office; and always for sins he hasn't committed. The nuns, or "penguins" as he calls them, are always on his case and he never knows what's coming next. A little Felliniesque, a little Shakespearean and a whole lot of fun! Whether you went to Catholic School or Public School, you may find yourself reconnecting with your own unique and richly awkward moments of childhood.
