Summary:

There are more than a hundred discount nail salons in Seattle owned by Vietnamese immigrants. Many of their employees also are Vietnamese. The language barrier often prevents them from fully understanding the dangers they face in the workplace. Nail polish, polish remover, and liquid acrylic all contain chemicals that can cause serious health problems. Two Seattle environmental groups have launched the Toxic Beauty Campaign to inform nail salon workers about those dangers and how to avoid them. Ann Dornfeld reports.
