Review of Snap Judgment: Episode One (Public Radio Talent Quest Winner)Terrific storytelling here with Snap Judgment. The guests are diverse and the stories are real. I Like things that bring me into the world of other people and this does that in a big way. The mix of stories is a good cross section that will appeal to many people. These stories just unfold in unpredictable ways. I feel like there is no agenda other than the truth. I absolutely loved the Mohammed in Custody piece. He is a charmer. I can see how he slipped through the system. You really identified and wanted to hear what happened next. It some good music that kept it moving. The only thing was the production levels. Glynn is a tone that you don't hear on Public radio. He is exuberant at times, laid back at others, genuine and engaging. The only issue I had was that some of the music seemed a little hot in the Mix, but that is because I do Post Production Work so it could be me. |

Review of Snap Judgment: Episode One (Public Radio Talent Quest Winner)TENSION FACTOR: !!!!! This is one of those shows where you can't help but keep listening. The stories in themselves are compelling and the unravelling may be a little torturous but I guess that's the whole hook thing....which the host is very good at - quick summaries and leading questions. The music is used a little too predictably but I have to say it worked its tension on me...The theme in this particular show doesn't really hold up, nor the sub-theme of "passing" but as I said, the stories were so interesting, I didn't really care. Washington keeps you there, even when you gotta go back to work....like now ! |

Review of Snap Judgment: Episode One (Public Radio Talent Quest Winner)
Fantastic! This guy came off the mark with all guns blazing. Glynn actually had the confidence to ?wink? at his audience from the opening bell. An incredible ride. As a producer, I know that getting those stories out of regular people could not possibly be as effortless as he made it seem.
Talk about your driveway moments! I kept turning up the volume, afraid to accidentally miss a second. Every time Glynn started to try my patience ? he turned around and delivered a strike. Snap Judgment has the feel of something big. Certainly a compelling show, but also an extremely compelling premise.
Five stars (two thumbs way up). This is what public radio needs more of.
