Description:

Interviewed for the 2006 radio series Jazz of Enchantment, Chris Calloway talks about her bout with cancer, her father, Cab Calloway's, impact on music and entertainment, and how she managed to find her own voice in the shadow of his fame.

This material is presented in several lengths for multiple presentation options.

29:00 - 21:30 minute interview/music segment capped with Chris' live performance of her father's classic "Minnie the Moocher."

21:30 - Stand alone interview/music segment without the complete "Minnie the Moocher."

9:30 - Excerpt of Chris talking only about her father Cab Calloway.

7:20 - Stand alone featurette, Chris on her cancer, her dad, her own music.

If you were to use any of these pieces in the wake of her death, it would be important to do a hard announce intro and outro like this:

"Jazz singer Chris Calloway died Thursday, August 7, 2008. She was the daughter of the late legendary band leader and entertainer, Cab Calloway. Chris Calloway had been battling cancer for over 10 years when she died in her home of Santa Fe, New Mexico at the age of 62.

Chris Calloway was featured in a 2006 public radio series about New Mexico jazz musicians in which she talked compellingly about her struggle with cancer and growing up in the shadow of her famous dad. Paul Ingles produced the series."
