SUGGESTED LOCAL HOST INTRO:
As the race for the swing states continues, some parts of the country have already defied predictions and turned away from their expected political bent. In our continuing series of reports on the swing states from the Economist magazine, we look at Arizona, a state that has voted Republican in every presidential election from 1952 to 1992, but in this election remains undecided. Here’s the Economist’s US editor, John Micklethwait.
SUGGESTED OUTRO:
This has been part of a special series on the swing states from the Economist magazine, on the web at Economist.com.

Review of The Economist Swing State Reports: ArizonaThis piece is succinct and timely, and I would love to hear the entire series on my local public radio station. This overview of the state of play in the state of Arizona seems to cover all the bases, from historical perspectives to demographic shifts to political party activities. The tone is serious but not stodgy, leaving this listener eager to learn more about this swing state and the rest. Roll on November 2nd..... |

Review of The Economist Swing State Reports: Arizona
Leave it to the British to provide a fresh new perspective on America. This is a fascinating series for us political junkies -- a great way to get up to speed on the lay of the battleground states before November 2.
