Description:

This is Volume 5 of a show featuring brand new holiday music, most of which was recorded specifically for Ornaments. Some of the artists give anecdotes about their songs or the holiday. The show sprang from the highly regarded weekend evening folk broadcasts of WKSU-FM in Kent, Ohio, which also spawned FolkAlley.com. The first 4 editions, beginning in 1999, were all carried on close to 100 stations across the country. This version features Asleep at the Wheel, The Roches, Loudon Wainwright III, Magpie, Pete Morton, Bill Mize, a Russian Kolyadka by Barynya, David Wilcox, a story by David Massengill, and more. There's also the Ornaments tradition of a take-a-turn reading by most of the artists of The Night Before Christmas. Some of the songs are familiar, but the interpretations are all new. A fresh sound for the holidays.
