Winona LaDuke explains how her community in the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota was threaten by GMO rice which could have contaminated traditional wild rice and would have in affect changed their culture. 1000281_small The Shift of Land is a 13 part series, which looks at the deep connections between land, culture and agriculture in New Mexico. The purpose of the program is to remember this connection between land and culture, to look at where agriculture came from in the state and where it?s going. With scholars, farmers and ranchers we will look at where New Mexican agriculture has come from with the Native Nations to the Spanish and Indio-Hispano settlers to the Anglo European settlers. We will also explore how national and global trends in agriculture have affected and are affecting the state. We explore trends in National agriculture from trade within the global market to Genetically Modified Organisms.
