Description:

The 1968 album "Electric Sleep" by Sleepy John Estes has been reissued as "Sleepy John Estes On The Chicago Blues Scene." This project put together an idiosyncratic country bluesman and a group of Chicago blues stalwarts. The somewhat unpredictable Estes and the Chicago regulars, including Jimmy Dawkins, Sunnyland Slim, Carey Bell, and Earl Hooker among others, kind of "meet in the middle" on an album that we are very happy to have reissued. Also in this hour, new music from New Orleans bass player and band leader George Porter, Jr., a new live album fom Eric Bibb, and the music-- and life-- of Grace Griffith. Folksinger Griffith continues her career although she has Parkinson's Disease, and she also works to improve our undertanding of the condition.
